head cradled soft upon my breasts
you sing me tuneless songs, each line
growing more bawdy until I
stifle dreadful verse with a kiss

Dunes
crests and troughs ride the rolling tide
waves heavy with white grains of sand
stroke and shape the lake’s shifting land
until it slides dunes steep and wide
dunes slide steep and wide not real hills
but fine particles of rock ground
stacked grains without glue sculpted mounds
carved by wind gusts and water spills
wind blown carved by water until
keen sand thrusts a cliff-hanger pose
precarious, then a breeze blows
crests to clefts, the chasms to hills
dunes just flowers that own more time
wither bloom and shape the coastline
Four Lines
silence settles on our shoulders
while pencils sweep into circles
where kittens, clocks, shortcake, journals
draw us together
Four Lines
why does my dog lie sleepily content
while I gather blankets around my neck
then front to the floor hind still on the couch
stretches and wants out
Four Lines
stupid rays began yesterday
to bebop through unwary heads
jammed and snarled until they overspread
and consumed my pink m&m’s
Four Lines
earth sky earth sky just a cartwheel
spinning on a predetermined
axis and like the splintered glass
you came down piecemeal
Four Lines
your head on my breast I let
my fingers rim that curve of ear
and find the scar where catching air
the bicycle stopped but you left
Four Lines
when I try to smooth the stray tuft
that stands white against your forehead
I feel the caress of soft breath
on my breast
Four Lines
we lie skin to skin warmed by
faint touch and camaraderie
completely filled by quiet ease
breathing
Four Lines
imagine an amusement ride
and a small boy all flailing arms
mouth foaming like a rabid dog
a tale too silly to describe
